Fees for treatment range from no charge to $5, $10 or $15-25 per treatment, far below the average of
$60-$120 charged at for profit clinics. Patients are interviewed by the clinic director to determine their ability to contribute to their care, which includes a discussion of employment status and financial condition.
The organization does not want an overly intrusive inquiry into a person’s financial situation. If one seeks treatment at the clinic, by this very act, they are admitting to financial difficulty which causes embarrassment to many people. The organization is good at evaluating these kinds of things. If one is unemployed, the conclusion is overall easy to reach. The financial discussion is effective to reveal the true situation.
Persons who are unable to afford care are offered care at no charge. The CMCO patients who are asked and are able to pay $5, $10 or $15-25 per treatment help cover the cost of clinic supplies (linens, acupuncture needles, alcohol wipes).
Currently, and for the foreseeable future, CMCO will pay no rent or CMCO officer salaries or cost for facilities. These expenses will be covered by CCMU by allowing CMCO to operate from the CCMU clinic and CCMU provides the clinic at no cost to CMCO. CCMU provides the clinic space, phones, and scheduling services as well.
Currently the organization operates out of the clinic space referenced above for the Colorado Chinese Medicine University. The clinic consists of approximately 2,000 square feet of space. A picture and a floor plan are enclosed. The facilities are that of a typical Chinese Medicine health clinic, but geared for instructional purposes as well. The facilities consist of treatment tables, stands that hold medical implements and supplies, storage facilities for smocks and other attire, plumbing and other fixtures for washing and cleansing. Again, the facilities are provided at no cost to the organization, and there is no intent that rent will be charged.
The organization is fully aware of the restrictions applicable under IRC § 4958 and other sections of the Internal Revenue Code and will not engage in any transaction that violates applicable rules.
