The following sections explain the broader initiative behind this year’s Expo and help visitors quickly understand the purpose, vision, and program structure.
1
why now?
What Is Whole Person Health?
Whole Person Health is about helping people thrive. It recognizes that health is not only the absence of disease, but a dynamic state shaped by healthy lifestyles, meaningful relationships, emotional well-being, lifelong learning, purpose, prevention, resilience, and strong communities.
This approach encourages collaboration across conventional medicine, complementary and integrative health, public health, education, behavioral health, movement practices, nutrition, wellness coaching, community-based care, and traditional healing systems.

Definition
Health is created far beyond the clinic.
Approximately 80% of what creates health happens outside of healthcare settings. Health is shaped by the conditions in which we live, learn, work, connect, and thrive.
The Colorado Whole Person Health Initiative brings together healthcare, education, public health, community organizations, businesses, researchers, wellness professionals, and integrative health partners in a meaningful East-West collaboration.

By connecting healthcare providers, educators, researchers, businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, wellness professionals, and public health leaders, we aim to build a stronger ecosystem for prevention, healthy aging, lifelong learning, community connection, and whole-person well-being.

Topics may include prevention, healthy aging, complementary and integrative health, lifestyle medicine, community wellness, East-West collaboration, research opportunities, and models for improving health beyond the clinic.

Weekend public program
Public education, free acupuncture clinic, demonstrations, wellness activities, and community booths.
The weekend program will bring Whole Person Health to the broader community through public education, free acupuncture clinic services, demonstrations, wellness activities, community booths, practitioner engagement, and accessible health-related programs.
A special highlight of the weekend will be the free community acupuncture clinic, where members of the public can experience acupuncture in a safe, supportive, and educational setting. This clinic is designed to increase public awareness of acupuncture and herbal medicine, provide accessible wellness support, and demonstrate how traditional healing practices can contribute to whole-person health.
The goal is to help individuals and families learn practical ways to support health, prevent disease, strengthen resilience, and live more connected and fulfilling lives.
